Lowe Worldwide
Lowe Worldwide was a unique project in that the firm was moving from its Midtown headquarters to a building in Hudson Square that was undertaking a change of use from manufacturing to office space. Icon worked closely with the Building Management to coordinate all required tie-ins while the entire building infrastructure was being upgraded. The space consisted of an open floor plan with no ceiling construction, except for a number of floating fabric ceiling areas. The project was aesthetically challenging given that everything was exposed- therefore the ductwork, lighting, sprinkler piping and electrical conduits all needed to be precisely coordinated in order to achieve an organized and clean appeal. The entire project was built on a 6” raised finished concrete floor system. The pantries have industrial adjustable shelving with sheets of galvanized metal serving as the backsplash in lieu of traditional upper cabinets. There is a gaming area with galvanized steel poles acting as mounting brackets for the various LCD televisions against a “brush” wall. Despite all of these challenges, the coordinated efforts of the entire Project Team, including the Building’s team, achieved the required 12-week schedule within the pre-construction budget.
